3D Scanning
Using Laser Profile sensors Automation Manager can extras 3D point clouds.Several system have been built to scan 3D point clouds and measure features, and or control the position of the translation axis. The concept is a line scanning laser returns a 2D profile. As this is moved in one direction a 3D point cloud is obtained.
What the software that comes with the sensor cannot do Automaton Manager Can
The motion of the laser can be controlled by Automation Manager
and /or
Automation Manager monitors position via encoder feedback
Planes are highlighted and their edges identified
Spheres are located and often used to assist in calibration
Profiles can be "vectorized" and measured.
Note here profile are merged in the direction of the laser. Points are averaged to create the final "curve"
Complex surfaces are identified
Holes in planes can be extracted and measured
Gear Wear is measured geometrically and harmonically

Bead measurement - location and size/volume
